Crises in Austria & Words From a German Jew

A video was recently shared by an Austrian asking for help and support. Their country is facing a crises which is reverberating around the world.

Shortly after I shared the video, a friend of mine who is Jewish and lives in Germany wrote the following thread which I encourage everyone to read.

1/ I’m German and Jewish. In the last two years I could witness how my country turned into what my grandma was describing as #nazis #Germany2/ She kept repeating the stories about one event that for her, marked the start of the public oppression of the Jewish. It was the 1st of April 1933. #naziBoycott https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_boycott_of_Jewish_businesses …3/ She was talking about it every year on my birthday, which is on the same day. She told me, that #hitler would have never achieved what he achieved if the Germans wouldn’t have supported him.4/ She warned me about the nazis and told me that the real #nazis never have been prosecuted - they only sacrificed some puppets and kept to perpetuate their fascists agenda in the plain sight. This way they managed to demoralise the public and to normalise fascism.5/ And so the morally expensive #neverAgain has been established, used a lot by politicians to show off with compassion (and to take selfies for Twitter). My grandma never participated in those #NeverAgain events, though she lost her parents and both sisters in the #Holocaust (Source: https://threader.app/thread/1461061654083428356)t6/ She told me that it’s all fake & meaningless, that they keep killing people with food, drugs and fear. The #nazis have been transferred into positions controlling the intake of a human being: food, water, air & drugs. The genocide continued in the name of #health and #safety.7/ Many companies that participated in the genocide during the #nazi times are now very successful and have been saved from taking the responsibility for the #crimesAgainstHumanity. One of them is @IBM8/ She said, that the day will come, when we’ll see that laws and rules written down in the Nuremberg Code are meaningless & a fake to keep the humanity at bay, and to pretend that we will #NeverAgain & at the same time the #nazis will #doAgain only not in camps or gas chambers.9/ As long as she lived, every year on my birthday she kissed my forehead and apologised for her generation skewing up to destroy the #nazis and she blessed me with strength to fight for my freedom.
